Styrofoam (EPS) is not harmful to health in terms of production and use. The use of EPS packaging products in food industry was regulated by the Governmental Health Bulletin issued on 01.02.1978 by the German Ministry of Health.
Styrofoam (EPS) products are practically waterproof because its walls have closed pores and a waterproof structure. Fish boxes are produced with a density of 20 to25 kg/m3. Due to its water impermeability, airlines prefer to transport fish in Styrofoam (EPS) boxes.
Due to is clean, healthy and microorganism-free structure which is safe when contacting with foodstuff, it is compulsory to use Styrofoam (EPS) fish containers and boxes in our country since 2007.
